Yoga for Elephants at the Elephant Conservation Center in Sayaboury, Laos
Join Luang Prabang Yoga for a retreat that combines the practices and rituals of non-dual spirituality with calming yoga and meditations surrounded by the beauty of the elephants' natural environment at the Elephant Conservation Center ("ECC").
Proceeds will help further research, development, and daily care to not only protect the current species of elephants in Laos, but also with active breeding protocols to help birth a new generation of elephants in a region where the species is fighting to survive.
When Sebastien Duffillot started the ECC in 2001, nearly 2000 elephants roamed the country. That number today is roughly 800 (400 wild, 400 captive). Only about 2 elephant births occur every year, while the annual elephant deaths are about 10. This is why one of the ECC's main focuses is a successful breeding program, along with training and education for Lao students to continue aid for future generations.

In this 5-day retreat, step into the realm of wildlife.
Escape to the beautiful jungles of Laos, surrounded by the Nam Tien Lake and Phou Xang (the Elephant Mountain Range), to recover from the circumstances of everyday life. Step back into nature to explore gentle yoga and meditations based in the philosophy of Non-Dual Kashmir Shaivism, which focuses on connection, and recenter through movement, breath, mantra, and reflection. We will practice recentering while coming face-to-face with the consequences of our actions as people of the world. However, before we can tackle the world, change begins with us, and when we come back to connection, possibilities are endless. Join us for the all-inclusive retreat of a lifetime while practicing yoga for elephants. Please email Michele at [email protected] for updates. |
