Yoga ProgramYour yoga program will include philosophy, meditation, pranayama, vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga and yoga nidra, giving you the benefit of a full sadhana or spiritual practice. The program will encourage you to uncover your own truth and to gain a self-awareness that will help you build a healthy connection to the world around you. Through this sense of connectedness, we find compassion for others, and through this compassion, we revive the human experience.
We welcome all levels of experience and can accommodate you whether you are a beginner or seasoned practitioner. However, we don't recommend our retreat as your first ever yoga class as we believe students will benefit most from our program with some prior experience in a yoga class setting (even if it's just a couple of classes). If you have any injuries or health concerns, we'll be happy to show you modifications to make your practice relevant to your body. The small group setting will ensure that individual needs are met. |
“Inhale, and the Universe approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and the Universe remains with you. Exhale, and you approach the Universe. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to the Universe.“ Krishnamacharya. |
PHILOSOPHY
This coming season, we will be discussing the philosophy behind Yoga. We believe in presenting the knowledge of the ancient vedic texts in a way that is accessible for all. Therefore, through our philosophy discussions, we will bring light to why we do yoga, how we approach our yoga practice, how we approach our own lives and how we can apply yoga philosophy to improving our relationships with friends, strangers and the world around us.
Meditation
We will be using various meditation techniques throughout the retreat. When it comes to meditation, we find that different techniques resonate with different people. As such, we'll introduce various methods of anchoring the mind and focus. These are simple techniques that you can take home with you and perhaps incorporate into your daily lives.
Pranayama
Pranayama is a Sanskrit word that means "extension of the breath" or "extension of the life force." In simple terms, pranayama is the art of breath control. Breathing is the essence of living, yet most of us are not aware of how we breathe. We'll cover various breathing techniques that will help you live a healthier life.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga or vinyasa flow is also known as "breath synchronized movement" or "an intelligent sequencing of postures." We flow from one posture to the next in the most natural sequence while synchronizing breath and movement. Vinyasa yoga is dynamic, yet the sequence can be modified to suit the needs of the practitioner.
Restorative Yoga
In restorative yoga, we select specific postures that will leave you feeling nourished and well-rested. Postures are typically practiced on the floor, held for several minutes and supported by props.
Yoga Nidra
Yoga nidra is also known as "yogic sleep." It's a guided relaxation that leaves you in a state of conscious awareness of your deep sleep. We guide you through the different parts of your body, different sensations and visualizations to calm the brain and the nervous system.
CLASSIC retreat itinerary
The itinerary we've put together is meant to help you connect to yourself, to the people around you and to the world in which we live. We want you to leave feeling recharged and healthy so you can return home with more energy or carry with you the feeling of peace and calmness as you continue on your adventures. Most of all we'd like to rebuild the human experience and restore faith in humanity. You will be re-inspired. Yoga and meditation classes, and workshops run from 90 minutes to 120 minutes.
