HEAL
AYURVEDA, INTROSPECTION AND SELF-CARE
Dates: Thursday February 18 - Sunday FEBRUARY 21, 2021
Retreat Duration: 4 Days/3 Nights
Teacher: Antje Leubbe
Ayurveda is described as the ancient science of life. The Ayurvedic system encourages us to build a deeper awareness of our habits and patterns through our daily choices. It is based on the idea that everything in the universe including ourselves are made up of five elements (earth, fire, water, air, ether). We are born with a unique combination of these elements, which then determines our optimal nutrition, sleep patterns and choices that we make. It also explains diseases that result as we come out of balance, and the necessary steps to bring us back into balance. Beyond an approach to health, the process of determining your Ayurvedic constitution is one of cultivating self-awareness. On this retreat, you'll dip your toes into this process. Daily yoga practices will be structured around various concepts of Ayurveda.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life,Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vital while realizing their full human potential. Providing guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses, Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit (source: Chopra Center).
With insights into Ayurveda, you will learn more on how to create Your healthy lifestyle, in every day life and in your diet. We will look into how we are responsible for the intakes to our body, where these intakes take place and how they effect our body, mind and soul. We will guide you to see - what can I sense and feel in this particular living organism, i.e. in my body, and what can I do to move towards a healthier state and stay in a healthy state? When diagnosing yourself, all aspects of life are involved, any relationships in life to things, people, situations, emotions. To live "ayurvedically" is to live in Harmony with all these things in and around yourself.

The Retreat
This retreat is designed as an introduction to Ayurveda. Understanding yoga and its various philosophies can be a daunting task. Here, we take a piece of the larger puzzle and shine a spotlight onto an intriguing guideline for living the optimal lifestyle. If you are interested in how yoga can be part of a holistic system of healing not just symptoms, but the root causes of long-term illness and common conditions such as inflammation, fatigue, digestive problems and brittle skin and bones, this retreat is a comprehensive entry point into this knowledge. Ayurveda helps us to understand what keeps us in balance and what takes us out of balance, and the appropriate action to take and when. It prescribes the kind of physical activity or yoga practice to engage in and when. Beyond health, it also guides us in choosing the right time to make changes or decisions. You will be exposed to these different concepts in the field of Ayurveda through the physical practice of yoga, meditation, and an interactive afternoon discussion.
