YOGA THERAPEUTICS AND BODYWORK IMMERSION

With Daphne Chua
January 22 - 28, 2018
(This retreat takes place in Luang Prabang at Sanakeo Boutique Hotel)

ABOUT

Join Yoga Therapist, Movement Facilitator, and Bodyworker Daphne Chua in a week’s exploration in Yoga & Therapeutics as embodied healing tools. Using an inquiry approach, this training is an exploration into waking up the internal senses to uncover our own physical and subtle mind-body mapping, which will help us determine the way we inhabit in our environment and respond to people around us, as well as understand how our our breath patterns, movement, holding gait, postures are manifested through deep seated patterns in our habitual reactions.

This will be a 50 hours immersion for yoga practitioners, bodyworkers, dancers, movement enthusiasts etc, who’d like to understand and experience the functions of embodiment in movement, yoga therapy, and bodywork as tools for transformation and healing. Gain insights into the mind-body connection through Eastern philosophies, supported by the sensibilities of our physiological, psychosomatic and nervous systems of health and wellness. You will be able to apply these tools for teaching yoga or movement, self-care, or in offering bodywork to support your clients and your loved ones.

*Through an inquiry-based approach, Daphne will guide you into uncovering your very own healing techniques through our physical and subtle mind-body maps. She will facilitate movement, breath techniques, somatic therapy, hands-on techniques, and bodywork modalities to unravel our innate intelligence to heal and nurture our body, mind and spirit. When we explore from within through sensory approach instead of a cognitive approach, our mind can de-clutter and re-wire through our breath, digestion, body chemistry, and fascia organisation. Bringing together mindfulness with somatic tools, we gain more clarity into our own feelings and behaviour as an embodied biological process.

  • Reveal new aspects of movement and postures from the perspective of different body systems - such as immune, nervous, endocrine, digestive as well as skeletal and fascia systems
  • Experience greater depth, ease and flow of movement in forming traditional yoga asanas
  • Develop a yoga practice based on personal needs and abilities
  • Explore sequential relationships between postures
  • Observe and analyze the movement of others using this subtle and dynamic perspective
  • Illuminate new aspects of yoga from various therapeutic perspectives through authentic embodiment and facilitation of mindfulness and self-care techniques

* The requirement for entry into these modules is a personal movement practice and a basic familiarity with yoga asana. Continuing Education Units (CEU) for yoga teachers awarded.
